How ClientRater reviews work

Draft for attorney review before launch. These rules are not final legal terms.

  1. Only rate clients you worked for. Your business must have had a signed contract or invoice with this client for this job.
  2. Back it up. Every review needs proof: a contract, invoice, inspection record, lien filing or similar. Proof stays private to our verification team.
  3. Go on record about your own work. Say honestly whether the scope was completed, the work met code, permits were pulled and inspections passed.
  4. Stick to facts. Describe what happened, such as dates, amounts and inspections. No insults, no guesses about motives, and no personal details beyond the job.
  5. No threats or leverage. Never offer to remove or soften a review in exchange for payment. If a client pays, tell us and we'll mark the review Resolved.
  6. Clients can respond. Any client can reply, show that a balance was paid, or dispute a review. We may ask both sides for documents and may remove reviews that can't be supported.
  7. Keep lookups private. Client profiles are for verified members only. Don't share screenshots or post profiles publicly.
  8. Not for credit decisions. ClientRater reflects contractors' job experiences. Don't use it to decide on loans, credit, insurance, employment or housing.
